I learned that the Greenland Sea is densely inhabited by the organisms that form the base of the oceanic food chain. The last sea we are visiting is the Lincoln Sea is to the west of the Greenland Sea and is in between Canada and Greenland. The biggest city in Greenland is Nuuk and we are traveling my boat from the Greenland Sea to Nuuk then from Nuuk ( by vehicle) to the city Alert in Canada then going to the Lincoln Sea. Three capes border the Lincoln sea. They are Cape Columbia, Morris Jesup and Sheridan. Also the Arctic Ocean borders the Lincoln sea. The GPS coordinates are 60º north and 24º east. The climate of the Lincoln Sea is also very cool because it is also located near the Arctic Sea but their aren't as many ice caps. It is covered with ice throughout the year and it snows in the winter. There is little plant life and mostly ice. The sea was named after Robert Todd Lincoln but was later named The Lady Franklin Bay because of Adolphus W. Greely, which was the United States secretary of war from 1881-1884. The leader of this heritage tour was related to Adolphus W Greely so it is important to him we go because of his family history. It is going to take about 740 miles to get there and possibly a little longer because we are traveling a little bit by boat. The cost of everything was already paid in the begging of the trip. I really have am enjoying this experience with my mom and dad. I am missing home but I think I have learned a lot. Like the GPS corridnates between each sea I visit and how the seas look. Like the Celtic Sea has a lot of plant life and is one of the closest Seas I visited to Maine. The closest Sea I am visiting to Maine is the Lincoln Sea. It is about 560 miles away from my home town. I hope I have fun on my last trip and this has been a great experience!

Fifth Location
The next sea I am visiting on my heritage tour is the Greenland Sea. The Greenland Sea is right outside of Greenland and Iceland. Nuuk is the largest city in Greenland and we will be stopping in Nuuk to get on our boat and go check out Greenland Sea. Three seas border the Greenland Sea which are the North, Norwegian and Barents seas. The Atlantic and Arctic Sea also border the Greenland Sea. The GPS corridnates are 80º east and 20º north. The Greenland sea is a little south from the Arctic Ocean but the ice drifts down to Greenland so it looks like winter. The water has ice chunks and snow caps. The climate is very cold about -59º C , no swimming their! The average depth is 1,450 meters and the area is 1,205,00km2. Five summer cruises between the years 1966-1973 investigated the Greenland sea for the age of the ocean floor from magnetic anomalies, and the locations and azimuths of fracture zones. The anomalies is an album to record pressure and sound. The Azimuths is angles and measurements. Hopefully we will not have any layovers! I am feeling really good about this trip. The Greenland sea sounds like one of the most educational Seas. I am just kidding very home sick :[ We don't have to pay for traveling because before we went on the trip my mom and dad paid 1,000 for me and 800 for each of them to cover everything before we go. India is 5555 miles away from Greenland. It will probably take longer for us because we are using boats, planes and vehicles. The last sea we went to was the Arabian Sea. That sea was warm and filled with lots of different plants and animals. In Greenland it is going to be very cold and dead but still more educational I think. I hope we have a good, safe trip. Only the Greenland Sea and one more to go!

Fourth Location
Hey, We just got back from the Java Sea which was fun but a wreck :[ or boat broke down and the cabs didn't show up on time! We made the best out of it though. I only have 2 more seas I am going to after I travel to the Arabian Sea. It located near Asia and Africa and India and Oman are the countries that border it. The Arabian Sea seems pretty large in fact it is 3,862,000km2. Only two gulfs border it, Gulf of Aden and Gulf of Oman. The Arabian Sea looks like the coast of Maine/ Florida my mother says. She said the rocks and water looks like Maine and the Palm trees and plants look like the beautiful ones in Florida. The Arabian Sea has two important branches- the Gulf of Aden in the southwest, connecting with the Red Sea through the strait of Bab-el-Man deb; and the Gulf of Oman to the northwest, connecting with the Persian Gulf. This helps people and businesses travel better from Africa to Europe or vis versa. Like every other location we are traveling by cabs and boat. I like the cabs because I like looking through to city's and seeing all the different scenery and beautiful places. The boats are fun but I tend to get boat sick:p It is going to take 2,739.97 miles to get from Indonesia to India. Then traveling on boats will probably take another 700-800 miles. The GPS coordinates are 0 degrees (Equator) and 70 degrees East. I couldn't find out how much it would cost for my flight, hotel & cabs because it is blocked on my computer. Ill just have to ask my mom and dad. We had troubles some days but I hope the trip to the Arabian sea is much more smoother. There is only 3 more days until we go! Can't wait:]<3 :] rock

Third Location
I'm back once again! I just got done visiting the Celtic Sea and it was a blast! The next Sea we are visiting is Java Sea. The Java Sea is bordered by Indonesia and the countries Sumatra, Java and Borneo. The body's of water that border it are Flores Sea and Makassar Strait. My dad used to teach in Sumatra as a student teacher for 8th graders. He told me the water was very cold, it actually even had ice caps on some parts of it because it was -10. Now I can't swim :( but i think it will be very pretty to see the white caps and the occasional polar bears. We are going tomorrow which is May 12, 2009 so the water might be a little warmer then usually. We are in England right now so we will drive through Asia and several countries and then take a boat from Malaysia to the Java Sea for one week! The GPS corridnates are 50 degrees North and 0 degrees (Equator). The Battle of the Java Sea was a major naval battle of the Pacific campaign of World War II. Allied navies suffered a disastrous defeat at the hand of the Imperial Japanese Navy , on February 27, 1942, and in secondary actions over successive days. The American-British-Dutch-Australian Command (ABDA) commander, Admiral Karel Doorman was killed. The aftermath of the battle included several smaller actions around Java, including the smaller but also significant Battle of Sudan Strait . It was the largest surface engagement since the Battle of Jutland in World War I. The Celtic Sea had very warm water and lush green areas, I have a feeling the Java Sea will look like a Winter Wonderland in Maine! It takes 7620.o miles to get their. Hopefully we can get the right boat and not miss any of our bus rides to Indonesia and I hope we enjoy our time in the Java Sea. Bye !

Second Location
I just got back from the Caspian Sea! It was a lot of fun and the water was beautiful. The next Sea we are visiting on our heritage tour is the Celtic Sea. This sea interests me because it reminds we of the Boston Celtics basketball team:P I am thinking it will we green, lush and the sea will be amazing. The Celtic sea is bordered by Ireland, England and France. The north Atlantic ocean is the closest body of water next to the Celtic sea. I was right! The GPS corridnates are 60 degrees East and 50 degrees North. The sea has a lot of plants around it that are very green. The water is a light blue and it is very warm. I wish I could stay there forever. My ancestors are from Ireland and lived on the Celtic Sea in their sail boat. I am proud to be apart of that. The Celtic heritage of the bounding lands gives the sea its name, first proposed by E.W.L Holt at a 1921 meeting in Dublin of fisheries experts from England, Ireland, Scotland and France. We drove a cyr bus on land and a sailboat when we were on the sea. I am not sure how long it takes to get there, I slept the whole way! Can't wait to talk to you next time :]

First Location
It's me again! I am so excited for my trip to the Caspian Sea in two weeks. I am going to tell you some things about where I am going and why. I have always enjoyed swimming and the water. It has always been a hobby of mine. So my dad decided to take Mom, He and I on my school heritage tour trip to the Caspian Sea. It is located in Asia with 5 countries surrounding it which are Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. The black sea is the closest body of water to the Caspian Sea. The north most regions of the Caspian Sea are dry and cold and the South most regions of the Caspian Sea are mountainous and much warmer. The Caspian Sea is the largest "lake" in the world. It covers over 371,000 square kilometers of space. The depth is 1025 meters. The GPS corridnates are -50 degrees N and 60 degrees E. In ancient times the Caspian Sea was said to be an ocean because of it's saltiness and boundlessness of land but was later found to be a Sea because of it's size. My grandfather fought for our country on this Sea and I am very proud and excited we are going to visit this beautiful place!
